Whimsy 1 | Whimsy 2

Every seasoned professional has to cut loose once in a while -
hence, Elizabeth Berrien's collection of Whimsy and Weirdness.
dancing bear wire sculpture
Dancing Bear, commissioned by virtuoso teddy bear designer Lauries Weltsch of Fools Gold Bears. Elizabeth recalls, "Laurie is a good friend, and an expert at the form and soul of the Bear. In describing what she wanted, she'd say, kind of like a grizzly or kodiak, but different..."
Wire sculpture dancing bear
"I felt I knew what Laurie wanted, but couldn't find a refernce image of the type of bear that came to mind. Finally I admitted - the spririt of bear in my mind was from a 'Little Golden Book' of the Three Bears, back in the 50's. Laurie said, 'That's exactly what I want!'"
pigasus flying pig Wire sculpture
Pigasus, James Michael Harris Collection, Tasmania. Dr. Harris wanted his own flying pig - a life-size, winged Yorkshire sow. People's Choice award, Humboldt County Fair.
spider web Wire sculpture
Coat Hanger Spider Web, one of a handful created since a professional costumer requested one to hang in her closet. Elizabeth enjoys studying the works of orb-weaving garden spiders, whose absolute mastery leaves her in awe.
