Nov
9, 2007 - INCREDIBLE ACCOMPLISHMENTS!
Watch
this blog - we're about to post scads of new pages and images to
showcase Elizabeth's major projects and commissions of 2007!
Berrien completed and installed her site-specific installation at the
NPS Blue Ridge Parkway Destination Center. Upon arrival, she discovered
that the design specs for the pair of 15-ft bridges had been changed -
to 13.5-ft bridges! Elizabeth saved the day by expertly trimming and
re-weaving the arches to fit... to the relief and satisfaction of the
project manager and site designer.
While already creating the Blue Ridge collection on a rush schedule,
Elizabeth Berrien was contacted by BBDO, the world's 4th largest ad
agency, and commisioned to design a trio of 2D group images - to be
projected onto a 4-story wall in Los Angeles, as an ad campaign for BBC
World News. The 2-D sculpture series is under consideration as a Clio
contender.
Designers of upscale hotels and shopping centers in the US, Europe and
Asia are inquiring about collections of site-specific wire sculptures
for new developments.
Elizabeth Berrien is currently completing a variation of her 2D wire
wall art design, "Healing the Earth", for site specific installation at
an East Coast school building.
The artist is currently exhibiting at Woodland Grove Gallery and Mill
Pond Gallery in Long Grove, IL through Nov/Dec.
She will be a guest panelist at LosCon 45 on Thanksgiving weekend - and
is looking forward to renewing friendships within the realm of fantasy
and science fiction.

MARCH
30, 2007 - ANOTHER MAJOR COMMISSION!
Elizabeth
Berrien has been awarded a commission to create wire sculptures for the
National Parks Service. The $64,690.00 project, which includes a trio
of Hawks in Flight and a pair of 15 x 9ft bridge arches, will take
approximately 4 to 5 months for Berrien to complete and install.
As she prepares to begin the NPS project, Berrien is completing her
current workload of private and public commissions, including a
life-size Pacific Bottlenose Dolphin for a natural history museum. She
is also fulfilling wire sculpture orders for Woodland Grove Gallery of
Long Grove, IL and The Highlight Gallery in Mendocino, CA, and is
reviewing inquiries from "green"
architects regarding wire sculpture for public, private and corporate
environnments.
These commitments indicate that by mid-summer, there may be a shortage
of Berrien wire sculpture and an associated rise in prices. Clients who
reserve a wire sculpture commission before June may still do so at
current prices. |

Architects
and designers working on "Green", environmentally responsible projects,
cite wire sculpture as an art form with a surprising number of GREEN
attributes...
|
 |
It's
shocking... the term "wire sculpture" cannot be found in conventional
or online dictionaries! To fulfill the need, Elizabeth Berrien wrote
the current standard Definition
of Wire Sculpture
in 1995.
March 28 Postscript: We're delighted to see that Wikipedia has just
listed wire
sculpture!

Ahhhh...........think
of the ease of a bird in the sky. The wind
slipping through its feather while also supporting the weight of the
body. Easy as pie, as they say!

Art
collectors let us know what they want... and it's MORE 2-D wire
sculpture for their walls! Wire murals look as fantastic on garden
walls as they do in corporate lobbies and public spaces.
Some clients order intricate, fine wire wall art small enough to frame
- others want a bold statement for the mantel or entry way. This Hawk
Head could be created as life-sized 2D wire wall sculpture, or enlarged
to eight feet high... or three stories high! Learn more...
