Miscellany One | Miscellany Two

In her 37 year career, Elizabeth Berrien creates truly unusual wire sculptures by adhering to a personal creative maxim: "Thou shalt not turn down a preposterous commission". Here's a random sample of unique wire sculptures by the "Wire Lady"
umbrian landscape wire sculpture
Umbrian Skyline, 2-dimensional wall art wire drawing, commissioned by Pat Strand as a surprise for her husband Bruce.
bicycle wire sculpture
Two Cyclists (Pat & Bruce), double portrait of the avid cyclists, will float on their wall just beneath the Umbrian Skyline, so they can envision themselves cycling through their favorite landscape.
wire sculpture pelican

Phone Wire Pelican, 1986, created mainly because Elizabeth was tired of telling people why "phone wire wouldn't work for sculpture... too floppy, can't control colors, etc..." In trying to prove why, she discovered ways to make the telephone wire behave.
hanger spiderweb wire sculpture
Spider Web Hanger Created in a fit of whimsy, originally at the request of a professional costumer who wanted wire art work to hang in her closet. Berrien creates spiderwebs following the controlled random process she sees in nature.
stemware wire sculpture
Cocktail Glasses, 2-D wire sketch poster design for Neil Simon's play "The Cocktail Hour". Berrien is currently working on a site-specific commission for a 6-ft wine glass...
