One-of-a-kind, life-size Wire Cat Sculptures by Elizabeth Berrien. "Very few artists can realistically capture a cat's elusive spirit on paper. Elizabeth Berrien's ability to evoke such powerful spirit in wire, is a true gift." The world's top cat breeders celebrate victory by commissioning Elizabeth to create feline portrait in wire...
[Longhair cats involve quite a bit more wiring energy to show all that glorious fur texture.]
|
Elizabeth Berrien has never been without a cat. At cat shows, Elizabeth spends hours nose-to-nose with top show cats of all breeds, searching out the intangible lines that define personality and character. She creates stunningly "correct" wire portraits of all breeds.

Maine Coon Portrait commissioned by Gabrielle Miller to honor her father's very special relationship with his three purebred Maine coons.
"My father loved the cat... still gushing over it! Can you do the other two in different positions?
Thank you again for your beautiful sculpture and thoughtfulness."

Maine Coon
Here you can see the intricate process of Elizabeth Berrien's unique form of wire sculpture.
Unlike mesh or chicken wire works, Berrien's lace-like approach allows her to follow the flow of fur and muscle, drawing each distinct and expressive feature with great accuracy and "correctness".

Kitty Face (Figment)
Sometimes, Elizabeth gets the sense that she should stop working on a wire sculpture; to finish it completely would be to lose something intangible. These "figments" have a particularly ethereal spirit.

Be sure and see the additional cat wire sculptures at Cats, parts 2 and 3!
