Spirit, which started out
as a wire bear mask. It stayed in this compelling form for a year on
the studio wall; then it decided it was time to grow into the entire
Dancing Bear. |

wire sculpture bears by acclaimed wire sculptor Elizabeth Berrien make
impressive site-specific sculptures and landscape installations for
parks and gardens. The artist makes wire Kodiak bears, wire grizzlies,
wire black bears, wire polar bears and even wire pandas, which aren't
really bears at all...

need to climb inside, to access tricky areas like where the bear's arm
joins his body. The sensation of being inside looking out... is almost
impossible to describe. I get very, very quiet at times like this...
it's a very personal experience." |
